The 13" LDR.A is one of the newest additions to our extremely rugged & durable LDR Series rails!
The "A" stands for "Arca Compatible". This feature provides a solid interface with Arca-Swiss Quick Release Mounts without the need for any additional accessory or adapter. The Arca Compatible models have a partial Arca feature at the 6 o'clock rear poriton of the rail equipped with Really Right Stuff's RRS-Lock indexing points. It then tapers into our standard LDR.C profile. This allows end users the ability to utilize their scoped carbine for a wider range of uses.
Strength and durability continue to be the two main points of focus in the design of our rails. Our newest additions in the LDR Series continue to perform as some of the strongest and most durable MLOK style rails currently available.
We have received a ton of user feedback and that has helped drive the evolution of our rails. With that said, we want to briefly describe some of the improvements we have incorporated into our LDR.C, LDR.A, & LDR.P rails.
- Our LDR Series rails now come with integrated Steel QD Sockets. The steel sockets provide a more secure connection point for slings equipped with steel QD Swivels.
- The bottom (6 o'clock) "flat" is now wider and provides a stronger, wider flat contact surface if bracing on a bagged tripod or other surfaces for stable supported shooting.
- All hard angles/edges have been softened for an improved coating quality and sleek appearance.
- Each model has been shortened slightly for compatibility with wider range of suppressors.
- Utilizes our improved & lighter Mod6 Barrel Nut.Improved "Ano+" Coating process that we now complete in house.
- We have added "T marks" along the top picatinny portion.
- The Traction Tape Pockets have been adjusted to fill more area that hands are likely to be placed & have softer corners.
The material for the body of our rail is Aerospace Grade 6061-T6 Aluminum and was chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio, and for its better ductility compared to 7075-T6 used for other rails on the market. This material gives our rail the ability to tolerate high stress, in the event it were applied suddenly, without cracking.
As the use of night vision, thermal, and laser aiming devices has become more mainstream or common use, ensuring end users have a stable and rigid platform to mount lasers, offset red dots, clip on thermal/NVG devices, and bipods is important. Why is this important? It is so any device you mount to our rail, that is used to aid in accurate shot placement, maintains its zero. We wanted to reduce the amount of shift that external forces can have on your sighting systems. So whether you are standing, braced off of a barrier/cover, locked into a tripod, or prone possibly using a bipod, you can have confidence that your aiming devices will still provide an accurate POA.
By removing unnecessary MLOK slots in specific locations, we were able to provide added strength, lengthwise, to our MLOK rail. This is one way we ensure external forces (i.e. gripping or bracing against a barrier), would have little to no effect on your laser's zero. Another point of strength comes from the LDR's skeletal structure within its inner diameter (ID). Instead of cutting the MLOK flats (inner MLOK feature) as continuous channels from front to rear, each MLOK slot has its own inner flat. This leaves a "frame" throughout the ID of our rail.
The Mod6 Barrel Nut is the sturdy foundation for our LDR Series rails. It weighs in at 2.7 ounces, a 1.1 ounce drop in weight from the previous Mod4. There are now 4 index points for improved interface with our updated barrel nut wrench. Instead of force being applied to one spot on the barrel nut when torquing, it is evenly applied around the entire barrel nut. It now has channels lengthwise to allow for improved cooling and weight reduction. It is machined from a chromium-molybdenum alloy (the same steel used in gearing and engine components). It is finished in a sealed Magnetite coating for improved rust prevention over phosphate. When choosing the material for our barrel nut, we wanted to ensure the rigid design of our rail had an appropriately solid foundation.
The indexing pin is a great added feature to assist our anti-rotation wings and help with the rail's alignment during installation (when paired with our Ri2 Upper Receiver).
- The Indexing Pin will come with our Ri2 Upper Receiver
The LDR.C, LDR.A, & LDR.P all utilize T27, Alloy Steel bolts and a beefy Locking Plate. The Torx drive heads of our bolts reduce the chances of stripping during installation or removal for maintenance. Our mounting bolts sport a fine thread pitch, preferred for use in firearms components as they are less likely to come loose when heat and vibration are present.
Each length of the LDR Series rail extends as close to the muzzle as it can while leaving just enough space for most commonly used suppressors to be mounted. This allows end users to maintain their normal support hand grip even when mounting various accessories (i.e. lasers, pressure pads, weapon-mounted lights, etc).
